Strong cold front on the way!
We had a couple of showers around the Treasure Valley this evening. Plus, temperatures today were 10 degrees warmer than normal as we topped out at 70. Plus, that was with the clouds we had all day. Why so mild? It was the warm ahead of a series of disturbances that are poised to move into Western Idaho between now and Thursday.
We may see a little sunshine Wednesday morning. But, this will be short lived. Look for increasing clouds through the day along with another chance of spotty showers Wednesday evening. Highs will be near 60 degrees. But, Thursday should be a totally different scenario. A strong cold front will move into the region just before sunrise. We could see a little rain/snow mix down to at least the foothills and possibly the valley! Yes, it does happen this time of the year. But, what impresses me even more is the pressure gradient pushing this front along. That means we could see windy conditions through much of the day Thursday after the front goes through. How strong, winds could easily reach 35-40 mph.
By Friday and Saturday, another high pressure center will move over the state. This will give us dry conditions and sunny to partly cloudy skies as we start the weekend. Temperatures will approach normal levels in the low 60’s.
The storm track could return by late Sunday and Monday bringing another chance of showers to the area.
