It’s about time for a change!
We have been too dry for too long. I can feel people giving me the “evil eye” when I’m in public. This is usually followed by “hey weatherman, when is it going to snow?” I’m with you. The high pressure that has caused our dry weather has also created the critical fire weather conditions in California. Enough is enough. I wish I actually had some control of the weather, but all I can do is tell you is that a change is on the way.
When I looked at the forecast models yesterday, they were hinting that the high pressure was going to move away next week and be replaced by a series of low pressure centers. This is good if you want to see storms move toward the state. I thought, that looks interesting, but, I was reluctant to get too excited since it was the first day the models were hinting at this. Well today, again, the models are showing not just one front moving into Idaho, but actually, a series of fronts. Please keep in mind, this is almost a week from now. A lot can happen in the atmosphere in a week. But, if the models continue to push this idea through the weekend, then you’re going to see one very happy meteorologist come Monday.
For now, let’s keep the pattern dry and cool through Tuesday. We should see increasing clouds Wednesday. This will be followed by a chance of valley rain and mountain snow on Thursday and Friday. We will definitely keep our fingers crossed. We need to start building our snowpack. Stay tuned.
