Another round of heavy mountain snow midweek

Bogus Basin Photo-CBS 2 Staff Photo

We're seeing a lull in shower activity this morning through early afternoon in the area as we transition between winter storms. Snow will return to our mountain areas late this afternoon and evening with periods of heavy snowfall expected into Wednesday afternoon.

A broad low pressure system will pull moisture up from the southwest into the region over the next few days. As a result, snow levels will lift above the valley floor into Wednesday. Primarily rain is expected in the valleys with snow above 3,500-4,000 feet.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued in Oregon for Baker County. In Idaho, the West Central Mountain, Boise Mountains, Camas Prairie, and the Upper Weiser River through 5pm Wednesday. Generally, a foot of snow will fall in these regions during that time-frame, with localized amounts up to two feet.

Active weather will likely continue in the mountains through the end of the week with additional moisture moving in Thursday and Friday. Stay tuned for further snowfall estimates and timing.
