Sophia Doumani

Anchor/Reporter

Sophia Doumani is a reporter for CBS2 News with an emphasis on community engagement. Her stories are geared towards highlighting unique and upstanding people, businesses, and groups throughout the Treasure Valley. Sophia hopes she can make your day a bit brighter by telling stories that shine a light on all of the good in the community.

Before joining the CBS2 News team, Sophia had her own travel show called, “Hidden Gems in the Gem State” where she showcased Idaho businesses and helped locals plan fun weekend trips. Sophia got to enjoy a wide range of adventures while filming, including dog sledding, duck hunting, wine tasting, hiking to a natural water slide and more.

Sophia created, hosted, wrote, edited, produced and sold advertising space for her show, which aired Sundays on KBOI and KYUU. Sophia’s husband, a dairy farming Idahoan, filmed “Hidden Gems in the Gem State” for her. Sophia is happy to continue showcasing Idaho at KBOI, without forcing her husband to take time off of work to help!

Sophia has been involved in broadcast television since she graduated from the Bob Schieffer College of Communication in 2017. Sophia met her husband, a Wendell native, while attending Texas Christian University. He introduced her to Idaho in 2015 where she quickly fell in love with the people, culture, and outdoors. Sophia moved to Boise after graduating college and has become heavily involved in the community ever since.

Sophia is currently writing a children’s book based in Boise, is a member of the Boise Metro Chamber and is on the young professional’s board for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Idaho.

If you know Sophia, you know her favorite thing to do is to spend time with her two dogs, Peanut and Butter. She also enjoys skiing, biking, floating the Boise River and taking advantage of all the amazing outdoor activities Idaho has to offer.

At CBS2 News, Sophia wears multiple hats, including reporting, anchoring, writing and editing. You can watch her stories throughout multiple newscasts and on her social media pages @SophiaDoumaniTV. Sophia has a very active online presence and encourages you to reach out and say hi! If you know anyone you think she should highlight, email her at sdoumani@idahonews.com.
