BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The Idaho State Board of Education has officially signed off on two high-profile Boise State University contracts.
The state says it approved head football coach Andy Avalos's five-year contract. He'll earn a base salary of $1.4 million and $1.7 million his fifth year. His contract is paid through the BSU athletic department and not through state-appropriated dollars.
Avalos takes over the program after former coach Bryan Harsin left to be the head football coach at Auburn.
Also on Monday, the state board approved new athletic director Jeramiah Dickey's contract. He'll be earning $410,000 his first year and $444,000 his fifth year. His salary, too, will be paid for through revenue generated by the athletic department and other non-state funds.
