Hawks begin home slate with loss

The Boise Hawks dropped their home opener of the 2016 season to Salem-Keizer 7-2.

More than 3,400 fans filled into Memorial Stadium on Monday to see the Boise Hawks for the first time this season.

They left disappointed.

The Hawks dropped their home opener to Salem-Keizer 7-2.

Wilkyns Jimenez and Daniel Suero drove each drove in one run as Boise drops to 1-3 on the year. The only Hawk to notch more than one hit was lead-off Garrett Hampson, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Starting pitcher Antonio Santos draws the loss after giving up three earned runs in 7.2 innings of work.

The Hawks and Volcanoes will continue their season Tuesday and Wednesday. First pitch is slated for 7:15 p.m. both nights.
