Police officers could face discipline after photos show them sleeping in cruiser

Officers caught sleeping in police cruiser in Richmond, Indiana.

RICHMOND, Ind. (WKEF/WRGT) - Photos shared on Facebook show two Richmond, Indiana police officers sleeping inside a police cruiser.

The woman who took the photos asked FOX 45 not to reveal her name, but said she took the photos at St. Andrews cemetery. The woman said the officers were there for a minimum of two hours and said the cruiser was running.

The Palladium-Item reports that the Richmond Police Department has launched an internal investigation into the photos. The photos were posted on Facebook and have been shared more than 6,600 times. "Obviously, it's not OK," RPD Police Chief Jim Branum told the Palladium-Item.

The reaction to the photos has been mixed, while some are calling for the officers to be fired, others say they deserve to take a break during their long shifts.
