Four people have now been confirmed to have died in a fiery crash late Saturday along Interstate-84 in Boise.

Idaho State Police says the crash happened around 11:30 Saturday night in the eastbound lanes of I-84 at the Cloverdale overpass, which was damaged and forced to close throughout the weekend and through the Monday morning commute.

On Monday, Mountain Home Air Force Base said three Airmen from the base are believed to be involved in the crash, but did not specify whether the Airmen are among the deceased.

The Ada County Coroner's Office confirmed the number of deceased, but says the identification of the four people involved could take several days due to the condition of their bodies.

According to ISP, a commercial vehicle and SUV were traveling eastbound when they slowed for construction traffic. A second commercial vehicle struck the SUV and the first commercial vehicle from behind, troopers say. Four other vehicles were involved in the crash. The Idaho Transportation Department says the Cloverdale overpass will remain closed indefinitely.

"ITD inspectors have evaluated the damage and determined the bridge is not safe to travel on," the state said in a statement.

Crews say they plan to remove and replace the damaged section, which could take several months to complete.
