Two guns were discovered at the main security checkpoint on Sunday at the Boise Airport.

The Transportation Security Administration says the first gun (a Smith & Wesson 9 mm) was found at 7 a.m. in the carry-on bag of a man who was flying to Portland. The gun was loaded with eight rounds of ammunition.

The second gun, also a Smith & Wesson 9mm, was detected a few hours later for a man flying to Salt Lake City. That gun had seven rounds of ammo.

“There is a definite trend and it is not a good one," said Andy Coose, TSA federal security director in Idaho. "Too many people are bringing loaded firearms into airports and showing up at TSA checkpoints nationwide. “Gun owners need to be responsible when they fly and ensure that they do the right thing by either leaving their weapon at home, or packing it in their checked luggage and properly declaring it to the airlines. Otherwise, they may find themselves missing their flight while dealing with police and other security officials.”
