BOISE, Idaho (CBS 2) - This week members of fire departments throughout the Treasure Valley kick off the annual Fill the Boot fundraising campaign to raise critical funds to help transform the lives of kids and adults with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related muscle-debilitating diseases.
Governor Brad Little this week signed a special proclamation declaring May 16 - 18 & May 30 - June 1 as “MDA Fill the Boot Days.”
Hundreds of fire fighters from around the Treasure Valley will fan out across the area with boots in hand for this year’s drive.
Boise Fire Local 149 will be at the intersections of Fairview Avenue & Milwaukee Street and Overland Rd. & Five Mile Rd. on Friday, May 17.
Meridian Fire Local 4627 will be at the intersection of Locust Grove Rd & Fairview Ave on Thursday, May 16
Caldwell Fire Local 1821 will be at the intersection of Blaine St & S 21st Ave on Thursday - Friday, May 16 – 17
Star Fire Local 4716 will be on Star Rd and in front of the Maverick Station on Friday, May 17
Gowen Field Fire Local 4571 will be at the intersection of Overland Rd & Orchard St on Friday-Saturday, May 17 - 18
Ontario Fire will be at the intersections of E Idaho Ave & NE/SE East Lane and SW 4th Ave & SW 4th St on Saturday, May 18
Eagle Fire Local 4553 will be at State St & Eagle Rd in Old Downtown Eagle on Thursday - Friday, May 30 – 31
Nampa Fire Local 804 will be at the intersection of 2nd Ave & Yale St on Friday, May 31
Kuna Fire Local 4165 will be at the intersections of Deer Flat Rd & Linder Rd and Main & Ave D on Friday, May 31 and in front of Ridley’s on Saturday, June 1
Middleton Fire Local 4626 will be on Middleton Rd on Friday-Saturday, May 31 – June 1
Funds raised through Treasure Valley Fill the Boot events in 2019 empower families who inspire everyday Americans to help kids and adults with Muscular dystrophy and related muscle-debilitating diseases live longer and grow stronger, displaying how we all can truly live unlimited no matter what limits we may face.
Contributions also help fund groundbreaking research and life-enhancing programs such as state-of-the-art support groups and Care Centers, including the MDA Care Center at St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise.
They also help send more than 60 local kids to “the best week of the year” at MDA summer camp at Quaker Hill Camp – all at no cost to their families.
