BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — A small group of hikers who were lost in the Danskin Mountains between Mountain Home and Boise were rescued Saturday.
The Elmore County Sheriff's Office says its dispatch received an emergency call Saturday around 3:45 p.m. about a group that had been lost overnight and had run out of water. The caller said one of the hikers was experiencing a medical emergency.
Elmore County Sheriff’s Deputy, Elmore County Search and Rescue, and Elmore Ambulance Service responded and searched the area.
The search team used GPS coordinates provided by the 911 call, used off-road vehicles and a drone to search the area.
Soon after, a second call came in to dispatch stating that the medical condition of one of the people had worsened and Life Flight responded to the area to assist to the search.
The Sheriff says Life Flight was able to locate the lost individuals, address the medical concern, and then transport the hikers to safety.
