Many of the Boise Firefighters who responded to the mass stabbing Saturday at Wylie Street Station apartments returned to the complex Thursday to help plant a memory garden for the 3-year-old birthday girl who lost her life after the incident.

Ruya Kadir was playing among other children at her birthday party when her and eight others were stabbed by Timothy Kinner. Ruya died in a Salt Lake City hospital days after.

Boise Fire Department said Ruya's mother mentioned that she would like a garden to honor her daughter.

That's when the fire department worked with the property owner and donations from Thriftway Home Center - State and FarWest Landscape & Garden Center and got started on the garden.

"It's something small we can do for someone who lost so much," Boise Fire said.
