Report: Montana deputy shot and killed after highway shootout with suspect
THREE FORKS, Mont., (KBOI) —
A Montana deputy was shot and killed during an early morning shootout with a suspect in Three Forks, Mont., according to a report.
KTVQ in Billings reports that a Broadwater County sheriff's deputy died after a traffic stop on Highway 287, which is south of Interstate-90.
The report states the deputy had pulled over a vehicle for a routine traffic stop at about 3 a.m. Tuesday. He called the traffic stop into dispatchers KTVQ reports, but then never called back.
A shootout with the suspect and passenger occurred about 35 miles east of Missoula. The report states the passenger was shot and later taken to the hospital while the driver was taken into custody.
