Boise Police say they responded to a home on the 3300 block of Lancer Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Saturday for a report of shots fired.

Officers say when they arrived they interviewed witnesses and checked for any injuries.

The police say they didn't find anyone who was hurt but did find shell casings.

Officers say they also found bullet holes in the house and a neighboring home as well.

Police say that based on the gathered information, they believe a fight had broken out and that the man who fired the shots had left the scene.

Officers say they were able to find the gunman, identified as Caleb Mackley, 19, of Boise, a short time later at his home and arrested him.

“Boise police responded quickly to a threatening situation by securing the scene, gathering evidence and checking on the welfare of victims. While BPD detectives gathered information, patrol officers were able to use that information to successfully locate and arrest the suspect in a matter of hours,” said Boise Police Deputy Chief Eugene Smith in a press release. “We know that the people who live in this neighborhood value safety and we are doing all we can to ensure that this suspect is held accountable.”

Police booked Mackley into the Ada County Jail on a charge of felony aggravated assault and two felony counts of unlawful discharge of a weapon at a house or occupied building.
