Nampa teen who stabbed ex-girlfriend at Columbia High School sentenced
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) —
The teenager who stabbed his ex-girlfriend at Columbia High School in December has been sentenced to prison.
The Canyon County Prosecutor's Office says Wyatt Weist, who was 17 years old at the time, stabbed the girl after a disagreement during a break in classes.
The victim was taken to the hospital but was treated at released the same day.
Prosecutors charged Weist with attempted murder, which he pleaded guilty to in April.
On Tuesday, Weist was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He will be incarcerated by the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections until his 21st birthday, when a judge will determine if he should be released on parole or continue his sentence.
He was also ordered to not have contact with the victim for 15 years.
