Macy's turns Letters to Santa into donations for Make-A-Wish

Macy's Department Store kicked off its annual Believe campaign on Friday. In each store there are pre-addressed cards for kids (and adults!) to write letters to Santa Claus. For each letter deposited in the North Pole mailbox at Macy's, $1 will be donated to the Make-A-Wish foundation, up to $1 million.

Helene Peterson with Make-A-Wish said, "We love this time of year. We love it when it's Believe time because every letter will help support a wish kid in Idaho who has a critical illness."

She continued, "A wish means so much to our families because it provides a little bit of hope and joy and strength. It helps the wish kids see a future beyond their illness which really means a lot. "

Over the years, Macy's has given $17 million to Make-A-Wish through the Believe campaign.

"Every single year we've been able to hit that $1-million goal," said Jeremy Judd, Macy's Store Manager in Boise. "We've impacted 2.3 million people through the Believe campaign and it's just so special to us, a store that believes in the holidays."
