BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — An Ada County Commissioners business meeting was held this morning. Ada County Clerk and Republican Candidate for Secretary of State, Phil McGrane, spoke about how voting is going so far.
Over 54,000 absentee ballot requests have been made with just over 30,000 having been returned so far, up from 29,000 in 2018.
McGrane says early voting is on par with where it should be. So far 10,000 people have voted in Ada County. Early voting closes this Friday.
McGrane added that we may see an election with an increase in poll watchers. He said the Ammon Bundy campaign has close to 46 poll watchers as well as other candidates. Planning with Boise Police and the Sheriff's Office is underway.
He said lots of questions surrounding voting equipment have been brought up. A logic and accuracy test for voting machines is taking place this Thursday and the public is invited.
One team is working to count absentee ballots on Monday and a separate set of poll workers are expected to work election night. More poll worker training is taking place and more poll workers are needed for election night.
