Idaho middle school student arrested, accused of spreading threats
COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho (CBS 2) —
A northern Idaho middle school student has been arrested after they made a false report of a threat.
The Coeur d'Alene Police Department says a student at Lakes Middle School made a report to investigators on Thursday that they had heard other people discussing a threat.
Police and school administrators investigated and determined it was the original student who fabricated the report. There was no threat made against the middle school.
The student faces district discipline and will be charged with making threats on school grounds and making a false police report.
"As student safety is our No. 1 priority, we always encourage students to immediately report any potential threat or suspicious behavior," police said. "However, the school district and law enforcement will not tolerate pranks, hoaxes or false reports."
