House committee introduces campaign finance overhaul bill
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) —
A House committee Tuesday voted to introduce a major campaign finance overhaul bill which among other things would require more frequent and detailed campaign finance reporting.
It would also require out-of-state entities donating large sums to Idaho PACs or candidates to identify the source of the money.
The bill was presented to the House State Affairs Committee by Secretary of State Lawerence Denny, who says current law is too vague.
"If you're spending money to influence an election in Idaho," Denny said. "It needs to be reported."
The bill was put together by a legislative interim working group.
