Idaho State Police is investigating a five-vehicle crash that sent two people to the hospital late Monday night.

The crash happened just before 11:15 p.m. Monday on I-84 near milepost 30 in Caldwell.

Investigators say the driver of a 1996 International truck was stationary in the median on the left side of the westbound lanes, when a driver going westboound collided with the vehicle. From there, troopers say several other vehicles collided with that second vehicle and a nearby guardrail.

Two of the drivers - 19-year-old Austin Vassar of Nampa and 61-year-old Catherine Vandiver of Nampa - were taken to Saint Alphonsus in Boise. The westbound lanes were blocked for approximately four hours overnight.

Idaho State Police is investigating the crash.
