The first Sailors to be assigned to the under-construction attack submarine... USS Idaho have arrived in the state.

Getting to know the area and the people, the sailors took tours of the Warhawk Museum in Nampa, the Idaho State History Museum and the World Center for Birds of Prey.

Part of the USS Idaho is Idaho local Andrew Leonhardt, who says he's excited to share his home state with his fellow service members.

"We're just very happy to be here, were excited to show Idaho to the crew," said Electrician's Mate Nuclear First Class Andrew Leonhardt.

The USS Idaho is a Virginia-class nuclear-powered attack submarine and is on schedule to be christened next summer and commissioned into active US Navy service in 2023.
