Someone operating a drone caused fire crews to shut down air operations over the Rattlesnake Creek Fire.

Authorities say the fire's third drone intrusion occurred in a flight restricted area late Monday. Helicopters that were delivering food for the firefighters on White Bird Ridge had to return to the helibase until the threat was resolved.

"Drones create a serious safety hazard for aircraft, and air operations did not resume until the threat was resolved," officials said in a news release.

The Rattlesnake Creek Fire has burned nearly 8,000 acres and is about 28 percent contained.
