Firefighters responded to a grass fire in Boise Tuesday night in an empty lot where a retirement complex that was under construction burned down in 2006.

The fire was reported around 7 p.m. near 15th Street and Hill Road.

Crews were able to quickly knock the fire down and start mopping up, after having some challenges accessing the lot due to fencing.

The fire burned about two acres of grass and brush.

Crews will return overnight to check for hot spots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Firefighters say they are talking to some witnesses.
