Coroner: Nampa man dies days after police standoff in Ontario

A 20-year-old Nampa man was reported dead by the Ada County coroner days after a high-speed police chase turned to a standoff Friday in Ontario.

The coroner identified the man as Heriberto Ortega.

Police say he ran from police during a traffic stop and barricaded himself in an apartment.

The coroner says he died of a self inflicted gunshot wound.

He was transported to a hospital in Boise, where he died Monday.
