Coroner: Garden City inmate dies from meth, kratom in his cell

BOISE, Idaho (CBS 2) — A Garden City inmate died in his cell from a mix of meth and kratom according to the Ada County Coroner.

Originally ACSO reported that 42-year-old David L. McClure had died in his sleep. Deputies say he showed no significant signs of physical distress or intoxication during his intake assessment and was placed into a closed custody unit.

The coroner wrote that chronic alcohol abuse and heart disease contributed to his death.

McClure died July 25 at the Ada County Jail.
