Boise shoots to score a soccer team

Fans filled the CenturyLink Arena for the National Indoor Soccer Game between the U.S.A. and Brasil.

There are a lot of soccer fans in the Treasure Valley.

In fact, there are so many that when the U.S. National Arena Soccer Team came to Boise to battle it out against Brasil they sold out the CenturyLink Arena.

Friday's game was almost bittersweet because as fans left the arena it was unclear when there'd be something else like it again in the city.

Boise doesn't have a professional soccer team of its own. Many people say it's time that changes.

"I think a lot of people would come out and watch," said one fan at Friday night's game. "Just guessing by how many people are coming to this, I think a lot of people would come to that, too."

However, not everyone is a fan of the sport.

"It's definitely not my game," said Carl who chose to attend a Boise Hawks game instead. "They're great athletes, don't get me wrong. You've got to be conditioned to play, but for me, no. I'm not a soccer fan."

Still, even the skeptics say it could be a good goal down the road.

"There's always, always room for another sport," said Carl.
