Boise River flows expected to peak ahead of Memorial Day weekend

Flows on the Boise River are expected to peak this week ahead of Memorial Day weekend.

Water managers will increase flows from approximately 5,000 cubic feet per second early Tuesday to approximately 5,500 cfs by later in the day. Currently, flows are projected to stay consistent through Memorial Day weekend (although river flow forecasts are subject to change). Flood flow on the Boise River is considered 7,000 cfs. Additional flow increases are also possible.

Currently, the Boise Basin system is sitting at 98 percent of capacity, as snowmelt and recent rains continue to bring more water into the region's reservoir system. Currently, Anderson Ranch Reservoir is 99 percent full, Arrowrock Reservoir is at 96 percent of capacity, and Lucky Peak Reservoir is at 98 percent of capacity.

As the holiday weekend comes near, take note that the Boise River is not safe for floating.
