BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Boise Rescue Mission Ministries gave out hundreds of Christmas food boxes to people who needed a little extra help this year.
The Rescue Mission used the same drive-through format for its Christmas food box give-aways in both Boise and Nampa that it did for Thanksgiving.
Hundreds of people came in their cars and traveled through the lines for a turkey, food boxes, and other free giveaways.
"We love our community and we're here to help people. This event was just one way for us to do that," says Reverend Bill Roscoe, President/CEO of Boise Rescue Mission Ministries. "It filled my heart with joy to see hundreds of faces light up as they received boxes filled with Christmas dinner fixings and Christmas presents for their kids. It was truly an honor to serve them in this way."
Through this event, the Mission says it was able to put food on the tables of families who are having a tough time making ends meet.
The Rescue Mission gave a special shout out to Skaug Law and Idaho Biker Lawyer for sponsoring the event, College Church of the Nazarene in Nampa, and all of the volunteers.
"They helped make the event a success. All of us at the Mission appreciate the great community support we received and that we could pass that support on to our neighbors. We are truly grateful and would like to say Merry Christmas to the most generous community on earth," Roscoe said.
