Man arrested after BPD responds to report of man with gun near Boise State

A suspect is in custody after Boise Police responded to report of man with a gun at La Pointe Street and Royal Boulevard Thursday night.

Alex Guerrero, 25, of Boise is charged with a misdemeanor for exhibiting a deadly weapon in an angry or threatening manner.

CBS 2 News arrived on scene 15 minutes after a Bronco Alert was sent out to students saying that police were responding to report of a man with a gun near Boise State's campus at 8:14 p.m.

Five patrol cars lined the streets in the area as police did an extensive search.

Shortly after, CBS 2 saw the man identified as Guerrero being taken in handcuffs from The Shed, a bar in the area, and put into the back of a patrol car.

Witnesses on the scene told CBS 2 they heard arguing between Guerrero, who was outside the bar, and two men on a La Pointe Apartment balcony nearby. According to witnesses, Guerrero took out a gun and police were called. Police confirmed this report.

Police say no one was harmed and there is no longer a threat in the area.
