BOISE (CBS) — Flights across the U.S. are getting canceled left and right, and airlines blame the omicron variant and adverse weather conditions.
Just today, more than 2,000 flights were canceled globally, leaving many travelers stranded.
Boise resident Mateo Walling said his travel chaos began when he flew back from Paris, France.
"All it took was a small little delay out of Paris for me to realize that domestically here in the U.S., flights aren't really going anywhere," Walling said.
Walling only had 24-hours to book a flight back into the U.S. because of his COVID-19 test, so he took the first flight out.
"They said do you want to stay here or go anywhere in the states and I said just get me to the states because with 24-hour COVID test rules, you know I don't want to be getting tested every morning to maybe catch a flight, so they got me to Atlanta where the mess has begun," Walling said.
For two days, he's has been stranded in Atlanta, and he doesn't know when he will be able to return.
"I've had flight delays, cancellations before, but I've never not had a boarding pass," Walling said.
Mateo says so far, no one seems to have any answers
"The one question before I leave is is there anything I can do to get to Boise, and everyone so far has told me."
