Boise man arrested for attempted murder after stabbing
BOISE, Idaho (CBS 2) —
A 36-year-old Boise man has been arrested and charged with three felonies, including attempted murder, after a stabbing Thursday morning.
Boise police say Ruben Diaz approached a 74-year-old man who was doing yard work in front of his Boise house on the 3900 block Preamble Place in east Boise just before 11 a.m.
Officers say witnesses told them Diaz suddenly started attacking the man with a knife.
Police say neighbors called 911 and when officers arrived four minutes later Diaz was still attacking the man.
Officers say they confronted Diaz, who backed away from the victim, but he wouldn't comply with their orders and was still holding the knife.
Police say they then used their taser guns to subdue Diaz and take him into custody.
BPD says the officers then starting treating the victim before paramedics arrived to take him to the hospital.
Police say Diaz and the victim don't know each other, but that Diaz told officers he wanted to harm or kill someone.
After being checking out by a hospital, police say Diaz was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on one charge of attempted murder and two charges of aggravated assault.
Officers say the victim is still in the hospital with serious injuries.
