Adventure Guide: Fun ways to spend your weekend in the Treasure Valley
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) —
Broadway in Boise is bringing the popular musical Wicked to the Morrison Center this weekend. It's a take on The Wizard of Oz, but from a different angle, long before Dorothy ever arrives. A girl with green skin meets a popular blonde and they form an unlikely friendship, until the world decides to call one 'good' and the other one 'wicked.' The family friendly play is in town through next weekend. Click here for a behind the scenes photo gallery to get a sneak peek.
Another fun event to go to with the family, but this one is strictly for moms and sons. The Nampa Rec Center’s 6th Annual Spring Sports Madness allows you to enjoy pizza, basketball, dodgeball, games and photo booths. Moms and sons are encouraged to wear their favorite sports team gear as they take part in several competitions together.
More sports, but this time you get to watch at CenturyLink Arena. The Idaho Steelheads are playing the Wichita Thunder Saturday from 7-11 p.m. The Steelheads are fighting for playoff positioning and have a chance for success this weekend, as the Thunders are currently about twenty points behind the Steelheads in the ECHL.
If you aren't a hockey fan, you can always head to the Ford Idaho Center for motor sports. Monster Jam 2019 allows you to see the trucks up close, take pictures, meet the drivers and even get autographs during the Pit Party. Later in the day you can see the monster trucks in action as they take on various obstacles in the arena.
If you'd like a more mellow day Saturday, you can take your child to read to a therapy dog at The Library! Even though the children think they are teaching the dogs to read, they are actually helping to teach themselves. Children may bring their own book or borrow one of the books from the library.
