Nearly 150 high schoolers went head to head in Idaho’s first ever e-sports tournament.

Boise State University hosted the competition. BSU is one of the first colleges in the country to have a varsity e-sports team.

Just about every high school in the Treasure Valley sent a team and there are teams from all over the state as well.

Players say it’s not all fun and games. It takes commitment and practice if you want to compete at a high level.

“I play football in fact, I’m a senior and I was varsity in football this year. You have to use skills like leadership, you have to train, you have to be competitive and want to win all at the same time. You have to use teamwork, it’s the same kind of environment as if you’re playing football,” said high school e-sports player Seth Wilson.

Boise State did a little recruiting for their e-sports team. They offered free tours to the players throughout the day.
