During the month of September, the Idaho State Department of Agriculture's Idaho Preferred program is educating Idaho shoppers about the importance of buying local through a statewide roadshow.

The roadshow will be traveling around the state hosting events in local grocery stores to increase awareness of the quality and diversity of Idaho-grown products. Participants will be sampling Idaho produce, tasting Idaho wines and introducing some of our local farmers.

Additionally, representatives from some of Idaho's commodity commissions will attend with local farmers and winemakers who will visit with shoppers about local food, wine and agriculture.

"Simply put, buying locally supports Idaho," said Leah Clark, of Idaho Preferred. "Purchasing Idaho products not only supports Idaho farmers, producers and communities, but it also provides fresh, high quality local products for Idaho's consumers."
