More thunderstorms possible with Thursday’s storm front

A nice ridge of high pressure is going to move into the region on Friday and stick around through the weekend.

A thunderstorm rumbled through the Treasure Valley this evening between 7-8pm. It generated ¼” diameter hail, 40 mph winds and frequent lightning. This was activity ahead of a cold front that will move into southwest Idaho Thursday afternoon. As the front moves in, we could see a scattering of thunderstorms with more wind and possible small hail. One thing for sure…the weather is going to improve as we head toward the weekend.

A nice ridge of high pressure is going to move into the region on Friday and stick around through the weekend. This is also going to bring sunny skies and much warmer temperatures. In fact, some may even think it’s hot this weekend! Behind the front on Friday, we’ll see highs in the low 70’s. It will feel very pleasant. But, by Saturday and Sunday, highs will jump into the mid to upper 80’s! The weekend temps will be about 6-12 degrees above normal for this time of the year. This is perfect timing for the Gunfighter Skies Air Show at Mountain Home Air Force Base this weekend.

Whatever you plan on doing this weekend, I hope it includes lots of hydration and sunblock. The sun will be intense and the temperatures will be toasty!
