Enjoy the sunshine while you can!
As we roll into the month of March, the weather can go through some extremes. It can be extremely nice and sunny, or, it can be extremely wet and cold. Well, for the next two days, we’re going to see extremely nice weather. That is if you like sunshine and mild temperatures.
High pressure is going to build into much of the west for the next couple of days. This will give us sunny skies with highs in the 50’s. The high pressure will push the Jet Stream away from Idaho sending the storms into Canada for now. However, by Thursday, the high pressure center will move east of us and this will allow the storm track to return.
We’ll see valley rain and mountain snow on Thursday and possibly Friday. Also, the south wind could kick up on Thursday and this will drive our temperatures into the mid 50’s. For now, the weekend look dry and mild. But, we will likely see increasing clouds on Sunday as another round of storms will move in Monday.
The bottom line? Don’t let the sunshine fool you. We’re not done with the active pattern we have seen over the last few days. In fact, our little weekend storm dumped 12” of snow on Salt Lake City on Sunday. What a difference 1,600’ in elevation makes when it comes to winter storms. Plus, Utah got the center of the low while we were on the northern fringe.
