Connect With Clyn Richards

Clyn Richards has been a photojournalist for more than 34 years -- all those years spent working for KBOI Channel 2 in Boise, Idaho. During this time, he also started a non-profit foundation, CancerKids Worldwide Inc. to benefit children suffering from childhood cancer. In addition to the local projects, each year for several years he took a group of children and their parents to various destinations throughout the world and documented their experiences.

As part of this work Clyn traveled to several destinations including the North Pole, all five Hawaiian Islands, Finland, Switzerland and the Caribbean. Channel 2 collaborated with Clyn on these projects by providing the equipment and airing the documentaries and stories.

In addition to the work necessary to cover the local news, Clyn was also able to travel throughout the country and abroad to cover stories. Some notable trips were to the Olympics in Nagano, Japan; Florida to cover a local child's five-organ transplant; and Switzerland to do a story on the world's largest alphorn. Another interesting experience was being attacked by the wife of a white supremacist and having the story make national news.

Clyn's television work has earned him numerous Regional Emmy Awards, an I. Alfred DuPont Award, a National Edward R. Murrow award, dozens of awards from the Idaho Press Club and Idaho State Broadcasters Association, and in 2013 was inducted into the Emmy Hall of Fame "Silver Circle".

Clyn is married to Kristin Richards, a clinical social worker. They have four sons, three daughters-law and eleven grandchildren.
