High School Football Playoffs Heat Up
The quarterfinals of the IHSAA football playoffs had plenty of action Friday night, as nearly half of the remaining teams in Idaho completed their seasons.
In 5A, Coeur d'Alene defeated Timberline, 52-9. The Vikings will play Capital next week, who beat Idaho Falls, 70-40. Mountain View fell to Highland, 37-7. Highland will play Rocky Mountain in the semifinals. The Eagles topped Eagle, 36-21.
In 4A, Skyview advances past Lakeland, 34-23. The Hawks will meet up with Jerome, who downed Rigby. Also moving on is Century, who beat Twin Falls, 34-6. That sets up a match with Bishop Kelly. The Knights won against Kuna, 49-6.
In 3A, Timberlake vs. Fruitland, Homedale vs. Bonners Ferry and Snake River vs. Shelley will all be played on Saturday. Gooding beat Sugar-Salem, 36-22.
In 2A, Declo advances past Grangeville, 23-17. They will play Wendell, who defeated North Fremont, 32-28. On the other side of the bracket, West Side topped Orofino, 44-8 and will now play Firth. Firth knocked out Cole Valley Christian, 46-20.
In 1AD1, Hagerman cruised past Murtaugh, 56-6. That creates a semi versus Raft River, which won against Challis, 30-26. The bottom half of the bracket pits the winners of Troy/Genesee and Wallace/Prairie.
In 1AD2, Dietrich plays the winner of Kootenai/Salmon River. Council defeated Deary, 38-28 and now meets Lighthouse.
