Eagle beats Rocky Mountain, creates 3-way tie for 1st

Boise, IDAHO (KBOI-TV) - A field goal with less than two seconds on the clock led the Eagle Mustangs to a 32-29 victory over previously unbeaten Rocky Mountain on Friday, while Middleton hung on to beat Bishop Kelly for the second straight year.

Eagle 32, Rocky Mountain 29

Tied at 14 late in the first half, a snap over the head of Eagle quarterback J.T. Williams rolled into the end zone for a Rocky Mountain safety - and the Grizzlies led 16-14 at halftime and all the way through the third quarter.

Both offenses came unglued in the fourth quarter, as Rocky Mountain scored to take a 22-14 lead - but came up short on a fake PAT attempt so the lead stayed at eight points.

Eagle got a good kick return and marched 55 yards for a score, as J.T. Williams found the pylon from 11 yards out and converted a two-point attempt to tie the game at 22.

Rocky Mountain would retake the lead on a 35 yard Riley Bradshaw to Chance Hamilton touchdown pass, but those were the Grizzlies' final points, as Eagle scored ten unanswered to get the win at a packed Thunder Stadium.

The win ties Eagle, Rocky Mountain and Borah atop the 5A SIC at 6-1 each. All three teams have two games remaining on the schedule; Borah and Rocky Mountain meet at Meridian's Brighton Stadium October 26.
