BSU football player suspended from team following arrest

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - A player for the Boise State football team has been arrested on domestic violence charges following a fight.

Boise Police say they responded to a home near South Shoshone Street and Cherry Lane late Monday night. Officers say witnesses told them a man and a woman were having an argument when it turned physical.

Police say they identified the man as David Lucero, 19, and took him into custody Tuesday morning. He has been booked into the Ada County Jail on a charge of felony attempted strangulation.

Lucero was listed as a redshirt freshman tight end on the BSU football team.

Following the arrest, BSU sent out a statement saying Lucero has been suspended indefinitely from the team.
