Yotes advance to CCC semifinals
CALDWELL, Idaho - A 21-3 second half run broke open a five point game, as The College of Idaho ended a nine-game postseason losing streak, stopping Eastern Oregon, 92-65, in the quarterfinals of the Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank.
Taylor Pruett scored 14 of his team-high 16 points in the opening half for the No. 3 ranked Coyotes (26-5) - who won for the first time in the playoffs since a 63-47 victory over Southern Oregon during the 2005-06 season. The semifinal opponent will be determined later tonight, with tip-off in Caldwell set for Saturday at 7 p.m.
A Kevin Attilla three-pointer early in the second half got the Mountaineers (16-13) within 39-34, but Josh Wilson had a trio of baskets and Demetrius Perkins converted an alley-oop dunk in the seven minute surge, as C of I built a 60-37 lead with 12 minutes to go.
Sydney Donaldson, Zach Peterson, and Manny Morgan all had 11 points for C of I, with Antonio Garrett logging six points and 12 rebounds in the victory.
Attilla led EOU with 21 points, including a perfect 5-of-5 shooting from outside the arc.
