San Diego State and Buffalo battle at the bowling alley

BOISE, Idaho - The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl began its bowl week activities Tuesday afternoon with the Strikes for Spuds charity bowling event at Pinz Bowling Center at the Wahooz Family Fun Zone in Meridian, Idaho.

San Diego State and Buffalo joined to raise a donation of 1,700-pounds of potatoes to be given to two Boise-based charities and two team-hometown charities.

The potato product donations were given by Idaho-based companies, the J.R. Simplot Company and Potandon.

The teams battled through two-rounds of 12-frames each, with SDSU winning with an overall score of 241 total pins to Buffalo's 216 pins. In the first round, the Aztec offense took on the Bulls' defense winning 129 to 107 pins. The Aztec defense came in for the second round of 12 frames, scoring 112 to the UB offense's 109 pins to seal the team title.

The two teams bowled on behalf of Boise's Life Kitchen and the Idaho Foodbank for the Boise-based charities. SDSU bowled for hometown charities of the San Diego Food Bank and Jacobs & Cushman, while UB bowled for the St. Luke's Mission of Mercy as its hometown charity.
The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl will be held on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. MST at Bronco Stadium in Boise, Idaho. The Bowl will feature the Buffalo Bulls (8-4) of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) against the San Diego State Aztecs (7-5) of the Mountain West Conference (MW).
