DeMarcus dominating on the defensive line

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - DeMarcus Lawrence leads the Mountain West Conference with six and a half sacks this season, and nearly half of them came last weekend against the Nevada Wolfpack.

The junior defensive end is living up to his preseason hype, when he was the only member of the Boise State Broncos defense to make the all-conference team.

While Bronco Nation would argue that's probably not enough praise from the conference, but the Mountain was on target with their prediction on Lawrence.

"Yeah he's playing at a high level and it always helps when you get some defensive ends that can rush the passer and get off blocks, he's been doing a nice job. He's got a good motor, and he plays the game hard and plays it like it's supposed to be played," said head coach Chris Petersen.

"We call him tank actually, DeMarcus, so it's great to have him there. He's a good player, he's knows what to do. We've been emphasizing containing the quarterback a little better. I mean it paid off for him, he had three sacks, I think, four sacks," said senior defensive tackle Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe.

I's gonna be hard to rack up those numbers against the elusive Taysom Hill on Friday night, but that won't stop DeMarcus from trying.

BSU and BYU meet up on ESPN for some prime time pigskin in Provo. Troy Oppie will be in Utah starting Thursday with all the fun leading up to kickoff.
