Broncos finish up at USATF Outdoor Championships
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Jordin Andrade took tenth place in the 400m hurdles at the USATF Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, Calif., on Saturday afternoon. Andrade's finish will not advance him to the finals on Sunday, but his performance gives the Broncos two top-ten finishers at the championships. He joins Emma Bates and her sixth-place finish in the 10,000m.
With just eight spots in tomorrow's finals, Andrade needed to place in the top four of his heat to earn an automatic qualification. He placed sixth in his heat and just missed out on the last qualifying position by .21 seconds.
The Bonney Lake, Wash., native recorded the third-best time for any collegian in the event. Quincy Downing of LSU qualified in eighth place (50.93) and fellow MW competitor Trevor Brown of Colorado State took sixth (50.17).
Hayli Bozarth competed in the hammer throw and took 16th place with a throw of 193-10 (59.08m). Bozarth competed in the first flight and earned marks in all three of her throws.
Bozarth will leave Boise State with both the shot put and hammer throw outdoor school records. She threw those marks and won the MW hammer throw title in just one season of competition for the Broncos.
Boise State will have a select number of athletes compete next week at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., on July 5-6.
