Pair set to begin BSU careers after Olympic competition

Boise State gymnasts Isabella Amado (pictured) and Courtney McGregor competed in the 2016 Olympics.

Isabella Amado and Courtney McGregor went up against the best in the world this summer at the Olympics.

"Unexplainable," Amado said. "Like everything I dreamed for."

"It exceeded my expectations," McGregor said. "I had so much fun."

Amado competed for Panama, scoring 44th in the all-around, while McGregor placed 41st in the all-around for New Zealand.

Now the two freshman will represent each other - as Boise State Broncos.

"When you are competing it's just you but here everything is team orientated so that's been so much fun," McGregor said.

"It's evident in the way they practice and level of discipline, how hard they work, how fast they work. It's not hard to see why they made it to the Olympics," co-head coach Neil Resnick said.

While they plan to be Broncos for the next four years, they are also leaving open the possibility of competing at the 2020 Olympics in Japan.

"I still want to do it and Tokyo is probably going to be even better," Amado said.

"I think it'd be really cool," McGregor said.

Boise State begins the regular season on Jan. 13.
