Missing 11-year-old found hitchhiking in Warm Springs with her dad
WARM SPRINGS, Ore. —
An 11-year-old girl who was reported missing last week has been found safe.
Police found Kaitlyn Stofiel, along with her dad Thomas, along Highway 26, about 25 miles west of Warm Springs. The pair was apparently hitchhiking.
Neither was injured, but both were wet, cold and hungry. They were found only about a mile away from the spot where they had abandoned their truck. They told police they spent most of the past two weeks camping.
The girl has been placed in protective custody and no charges are expected at this time.
