McKenna sees get-out-the-vote as key to election

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Republican Rob McKenna says Washington governor's race will come down to how well each side gets out the vote.

McKenna spoke to supporters Monday morning in Olympia as part of a statewide RV tour. He said the election is close and will remain close, so he believes the winner will be dependent on making sure ballots are cast.

McKenna recalled the 2004 election, when Republicans missed the governor's seat by 133 votes. He encouraged supporters to call friends and acquaintances to make a pitch and ensure people are sending in their votes.

Inslee was attending a get-out-the-vote event in Seattle on Monday before beginning his own statewide tour Tuesday.
