Should pornographers be sued for damaging society, marriages?

WASHINGTON (AP) - The director of the Marriage and Religion Research Institute says he'd like to see pornographers sued for the damage their products cause to young people, marriages, children and society.

Citing similar suits against makers of cigarettes, Patrick Fagan suggested "good lawyers" could use research showing the harmful effects of pornography to hold its wealthy producers liable. He said those lawyers would deserve the large fees they collect from damage awards.

In a lecture on "Porn in the Dorm" at the Family Research Council, Fagan said moral students who want their minds to remain unpolluted may have grounds to sue universities where pornography is pervasive and unavoidable.

He said it's time for faithful Christians, Jews and Muslims to "push back" and demand that their morals are respected.
