FTC warns consumers with resolutions of weight loss to avoid these products
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) -- The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is warning consumers about buying weight-loss products that sound too good to be true.
With 2018 here, those with New Year's resolutions to drop a few pounds could be looking for some help. But the FTC says consumers shouldn't buy into ads promising weight loss with no effort if you buy the company's product.
From caffeine-infused underwear, to footwear promising to burn more calories, the FTC says these types of ads won't deliver on their promises.
The agency advises consumers to "Avoid any garment, gizmo, pill, or potion that promises weight loss with no effort. It may sound appealing, but in the end, the only thing you’re guaranteed to lose is your hard-earned money."
The FTC says proper dieting and regular exercise are what it will take to safely lose weight.
