Video surveillance helps police chief nab alleged hit and run driver

NAMPA, Idaho Nampa Police says video surveillance helped officers track down an alleged hit and run driver who officials say seriously injured a rider on a scooter.

Nampa Police Department officials say the crash happened Saturday night when a white passenger car made a left turn in front of the scooter, resulting in the crash. The person on the scooter was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Nampa PD says soon after information obtain from the video surveillance was distributed on Monday, Chief Craig Kingsbury spotted the vehicle as he was driving home.

Investigating officers were able to match evidence left at the scene to the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 35-year-old Daniel Chavez-Palomo. He's been charged with felony leaving the scene of a crash.
